Kylee's teacher was trying to explain to the kids about why we stand still and are respectful when we salute the flag and say the pledge. Anyway, she thought it would be a neat thing for Joshua to come in his uniform and do the pledge with them one morning. It finally worked out for him to go today. I tagged along to take a short video of it. He talked a little to them a little and then they did the pledge. The kid that was the leader for the day wasn't there so Miss Connie let Kylee hold the flag. Hope you enjoy the video clip.Tuesday, May 18, 2010

fun times
We all ended up working outside in the yard a couple Saturdays ago so I shot a couple pictures of the kids. They were having fun helping.

Note: Kylee dressed herself that day (the shirt and shorts were both pink!)
We were blessed with visit from Dianna. We had a fabulous time. We did some shopping (of course), played with the kids, and had some lovely chats that sometimes lasted late into the night. Kylee calls Dianna her sister, so that caused some confusion with her teachers!! :-) It's wonderful that Kylee has someone like her to look up to. The visit went by way too fast. Anyway, I finally took some pictures on the last day she was here.

403rd Wing Family Day
About a week ago, the kids and I were able to go and spend Saturday with Josh during his drill weekend. They were having a family day for his wing. They kids had a great time and fell asleep early on the way home.
The highlight of the day was being able to walk through two C-130s. They are huge. Josh says that they aren't too quiet to fly in though.
The rest of the day was spent at a "picnic". They had food, a fun jump, water slide, playing at the park, etc. We were able to meet up with some friends living in Biloxi that we know from Reno. We took the kids to the park and then to Chick-fil-A. It was nice to chat and spend some time with them.

A day at the park
Kylee has been off of school for spring break this week so we have been trying to do some extra fun things. Joshua was off of work today so we had planned to go on a picnic at the park and let her play for awhile. She was soooo excited. (Guess we need to do it more often than we do now.) As soon as she got up, she wanted to get the lunch packed and leave, but I had to convince her that we needed to wait till everyone else was ready and it was lunch time. We went to a nice big park in Lafayette. There were a lot of people there today. Guess it's because it was Good Friday today. It's real big around here. Most people have crawfish boils, but we just had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Fine with me though, seeing that I don't care for crawfish. :-)
Anyway, the weather was absolutely beautiful and we had a nice picnic in the sun (Kylee picked the spot). Thankfully, I remembered sunscreen. Kylee and Zane swung for quite awhile, went down the slide countless times, and walked around the park and pond looking a ducks, flowers, and the many dogs that were there with their owners. We stopped in for a treat at Sonic on the way home.
None of us were very hungry, so we just had nachos (with homemade guacamole on top) for dinner. I still think I ate too much though. Zane is now done with is bath, Kylee is in the shower, and then comes some relaxation that doesn't include going up and down the slide or pushing Kylee as high as she can go for an hour (I'm exaggerating!!).
Anyway, here are some pictures from our day today. Kylee took the one of Joshua and I. There was a lot more of the park in the picture so I had to crop some out, but I was rather impressed anyway.

Springtime
Everyone (except me) has been sick off and on for the past couple weeks, but I think we are through it now. Yesterday we were finally able to be outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. Kylee rode her bike with the kids across the street and Zane and I sat in the grass. We also got some stuff cleaned up around the outside of the house. After taking care of sick people for a few days, it was nice to get something accomplished! Kylee is on spring break this week. Yay! It is nice to have her home. Zane has been enjoying her company, too.

Zane's 1 year pictures
We took Zane to JcPenny's for his 1 year pictures. The lady did a great job and made it difficult to pick. I was hoping that he would get his nap before pictures and I got my wish. We (Josh's mom and I) had to wake him up when we got there which made him a little groggy for the first few pictures, but woke fully up and started smiling for the last half of the pictures. Yay!

Happy 1st Birthday Zane!
Yesterday Zane turned 1. Wow, where did the year go? He was born at 5lbs 7oz and is still on the small side. He is my little man and has brought us so much joy. He and Kylee love each other and love to be together which is a huge blessing. He is soooo busy and sometimes gets referred to as a Zane hurricane that has just passed through my living room for the 10th time that afternoon!
Dan and Joanna (Joshua's parents) came down for his birthday. We had a small but memorable (at least the adults will remember it) party. My parents joined the party on Skype! We just had some friends over too who have a little girl who is a couple months older than Zane. I made Zane's cake, and then Joshua decorated it. It was VERY impressive. All he had to go on was a picture. Good job, Babe!

Time for presents. This rocking horse came from Josh's parents. It's a little big now, but soon he will be able to have a lot of fun on it. Kylee has been really enjoying it! He didn't understand why he had to keep opening more gifts when he just wanted to play with the one he had just opened. :-)
Anna and Zane play quite well together. It was too cute.
They love doing this together!! I had to snap this picture because my mom has a picture of my sister and me doing the same thing when we were little. :-)
Kylee decided that Papa needed to be comfortable and tucked in for a nap. I don't think he was planning on a nap, but Kylee must have done to good of a job because Papa fell asleep!
