Snow in Louisiana!

About two weeks ago, we woke up to snow! It's been YEARS since they have had snow in Louisiana. In some places they had I think up to 4 inches of snow. We only had 1/2 an inch, but it was fun while it lasted (till about 10am).

Joshua's Birthday

I've been so busy getting ready for our trip and finishing up Christmas presents, that my blogging got put on hold for a couple weeks. Josh's birthday was December 5th and he had drill that weekend, so Kylee and I drove down on his birthday and surprised him. I had called on of his friends and let him in on the surprise so he could get some of the guys to go to dinner with us for his birthday. He was completely surprised and we had a great time there. He wanted a strawberry shortcake for his birthday cake, but Kylee said that the strawberries weren't boyish enough. She finally agreed that he could still have the cake if she put blue sprinkles, a blue truck, blue car, and blue airplane on it. She found the ones she wanted at the store and then arranged them on the cake. Here is the finished product!

While we were in Biloxi visiting Josh, we went to the outlet mall in Gulfport and they had a playground there that Kylee had a lot of fun on. She had never climbed a climbing wall that high before, but got the hang of it quickly.

I found Kylee "teaching" her baby and bear in her room.

Zane hasen't even been born yet, and getting in the car has been taking twice as long because we must make sure that the baby and bear are safetly buckled in their seat belts.

28 Weeks

Here is me at 28 weeks (plus 3 days). You all will have to agree that I have a baby bump now! I went for my appointment last week and also had my glucose test. They messed up and took my blood too soon so they had to call me back and take it again. Given how much I love needles, I was just overjoyed to hear that I had to go back and have it taken again! Thursday also was the day for my shot to since I have RH negative blood. Kylee kept asking me if it hurt. I had to be a big girl for my 3 year old!! The good news for the day was that Zane is doing good and growing a the right rate.

Christmas Tree

Kylee was very anxious to get the tree up when we got home (literally). We put it up Saturday night. She loves the star on top and the Nativity scene at the bottom under the tree.

Kylee and Daddy putting on the star (the picture is a little blurry, but it was the best one I took)

Thanksgiving '08

For Thanksgiving this year, we met up with three other families in Branson, Missouri. We had fun and relaxing time and made a lot of memories. We spent the week relaxing, taking the kids to the park at the resort, went and rode go carts, played miniture golf, went to the Christmas show at the Dixie Stampede, saw Noah the musical, spent the day at Silver Dollar City, and had a nice Thanksgiving dinner together. Thanks to Jana for organizing our vacation. It never would have happened without her.

Here's the whole group. Patrick, Corene, Tea, & Avery Doherty, BJ & Jana Hemion, Joshua, Esther, & Kylee Smith, & Jason, Michelle, Kelsey, & McKayla Corder

Patrick, Joshua, BJ, & Jason

Corinne, Jana (& baby boy), Esther (& Zane), & Michelle

Here's a funny little tidibt - Jana and I are both having boys and are due 10 days apart. When we were all together about 6? years ago, Michelle & Corinne were both pregnant and both had girls 10 days apart. This isn't a tradition that we plan on continuing with!

At the Dixie Stampede - Jason, Levi, Beth, Nate, Esther, Joshua, & Kylee

Us riding the go-carts. Kylee hadn't ever been on one and had a great time, except that she wanted to go faster.

Kelsey, Tea, & Kylee - at the miniture golf course

A really cool statue at the Sight & Sound theatre

Computes?

I just got a new ceiling fan for the living room that only runs by remote control. The one I really wanted was $150 and this one was $50, so that kinda sealed the deal and I like this one pretty good anyway. This morning, Kylee wanted to play with the remote and was turning the light on and off. After she had turned it on and off a couple times, she said, "Wow, this really computes!" I didn't even know she knew that word. :-)

Little Artist!

Last week, I worked on painted Kylee's new room. The room was blue, but when I told her that she was going to be moving into the bigger room (since she is going to be the big sister), she was very adamant that her room be pink and not blue. I tried to convince her to maybe put some purple, or another color (since her room now is pink and yellow), but she was not to be convinced! It is a dark fuchsia pink and a pale pink. It turned out cute. I will post pictures of the completed room, once we have moved her stuff into it, etc. I let her help me a some during the painting process. She didn't understand why I had to paint over where she had already painted, but other than that, she had a great time.

Pumpkins

Yesterday a friend called and said that Wal-Mart was trying to get rid of their pumpkins. So much so, that I got 4 good size pumpkins for a total of .04. You can't beat a penny a piece! I want to cook and puree the pumpkin and then freeze for future use. My mom always did her own, but this will be a first for me. I'm thinking I also need to make another pumpkin cheesecake. Yum!

Election Day!

After I took Kylee to get her hair cut this morning, I went to vote. I had Gracie today so both of the girls went in the booth with me. I had to keep them on the other side of the "cast your vote button" so they wouldn't see it and succumb to the temptation to press it!

Both of them have silly expressions on their faces!

Football Game

We went to the football game tonight between our team (Crowley Gents) and Notre Dame Pioneers (the catholic high school here in town). We didn't win (actually we lost really bad), but it was still a fun game especially for Kylee. She doesn't like the bleachers there because they have huge gaps and you feel like you are going to trip and fall through, but she decided she really wanted to go and see Jordan play in spite of the bad bleachers! The second half of the game, one of the girls in our church let her come down onto the field with her. Kylee had the greatest time ever. She was telling me on the way home that she had a lot of fun, but she had to be quiet and not talk because the guys had to concentrate! She also said that they were all sweaty and stinky! I had a hard time getting a good clear picture of her, so I ended up taking a video clip.

Here is a picture of Kylee and Jordan at the game last week.

Trunk or Treat '08

Last night was our church's annual Trunk or Treat. It was a fun night with music, devotional, costume contests, hamburger barbecue, and getting candy from the backs of people's decorated trunks of their vehicles. Kylee wanted to dress up as Uniqua from The Backyardigans, so I was able to put her outfit together for about $5. She loved it and it was nice and cozy. I planned on taking the dots off when she was done, but I think she wants them to stay on. As usual, my clever husband came up with a very creative idea for the trunk of his Geo Metro. He made it into the garbage truck and stood in the garbage can to hand out candy (he bleached out the garbage can before getting in it!!!).

Kylee, Josh, & Me (I was the only one in our little family that didn't dress up! Oh wait, I was dressed up as a pregnant lady.)

Kylie Jo and Kylee Paige

Kylee with her candy and popcorn. The hand filled with popcorn ended up being her favorite piece of "candy" she got for the night. I was happy with that!

Joshua's car that you can barely see sticking out from the "garbage truck"

Joshua with his dump truck. He put the outfit together too. It was rather huge on him but turned out very realistic.

Maurices!!!

There is finally a Maurices in Lafayette. Yea! I went yesterday and used some gift cards and coupons that I hadn't been able to use yet. Even though I'm 5 months pregnant, I just had to get a pair of jeans and sweater. It's probably a good thing that I am pregnant, because if I wasn't I probably would have come out of the store with more than just one outfit!

My new nephew

For those of you who haven't seen my sister Christy's blog site I thought that I'd post a couple pictures of my precious nephew for you all to say ahhhhh over! Kade Aaron was born on October 15th at 7:14am. He had to come a month early, but God was watching over the little fellow and he is going to be going home soon (hopefully today). These are pictures from my sister's blog site. I didn't get to take them myself. :-( We don't get to see him until Christmas time.

Ultrasound!

I am 21 weeks pregnant now and I had my ulrasound on Friday. We are having a boy!!! His name will be Zane Curtis. We are all very excited (including Kylee). She was set on a sister until she saw some baby boy clothes that a friend gave me. Kylee said that they were cute and so it would be ok if the baby ended up being a little brother instead of a little sister. She talks about how she is going to get diapers for him when he needs changing and also is going to teach him how to talk! They gave us a DVD this time of the ultrasound. We didn't get that with Kylee so that was an unexpected surprise. Here are a couple of the ultrasound pictures of Zane. I also included a picture of me at 21 weeks since i actually have a baby bump now!

Making Bread

I was making bread today because I just had one slice of bread left! Kylee wanted to help so, I let her knead it at the end. She wasn't sure in the beginning if she was happy that the dough was all over her hands, but in the end decided that it was ok since it could all be washed off! My sister gave me a great recipe a little while ago and we have really enjoyed homemade bread. It isn't too hard to make either even though I don't have a Kitchen Aid yet. My mom used to make it all the time when we were young and we made it too at times, but I hadn't made any for myself until a few months ago. (oops! The picture is a little blurry. I didn't realize it until right now. oh well.)

Homecoming Football Game

Friday night we went to the Crowley High School's homecoming football game. Kylee has always enjoyed going to the games with us every year, but is loving it even more this year. One of the guys from our church is a football player. She cheers for Jordan the whole time whether he is on the field or not! His family had some t-shirts made up with his number on it, so we got Kylee one. It was huge on her because they couldn't get everything on a t-shirt her size, so we rolled the sleeves, etc and made it fit her. Crowley didn't win the game on Friday night, but we still had a fun time. We also had three girls from our church who were on the homecoming court and one of them was crowned homecoming queen.
